The Department has been celebrating the World Folklore Day on August 22 from the Year 2006-07. Every year the Day is marked with academic activities and folk performances and felicitations to the senior folk artists and performers. The Day is being observed as an event and festival of extravaganza.

The Department of Folklore and Tribal Studies organised two day folk festival to mark the World Folklore Day 2015.

Two day Seminar/ workshop titled "Dravidian Proverb and Human Relations" is organised and a Folk Festival is celebrated on 22 August 2015. Pongallau ritual is officiated in real sense to the Goddess Dravida Matha. many folk performances are performed to the utmost entertainment with gaiety till 8.00 PM on the day.  The premises of Desi Siri become a festival point with hundreds of spectators even from the near by villages in addition to the Students, Research Scholars, Staff including honorable Vice-Chacellor Prof. Vijaya Prakash and the Registrar i/c Mr. Madhava Naidu. 

The mouth watering folk food is tasted by one and all.
