Original books:
1. Janapada Adbhuta Katha Nirmanam . 1992. The book is
written for the competition of “Rama Raju Janapada Vijnana Bahumathi” conducted
by the A.P Janapada Sahitya Parishat in 1991. I submitted this book as one
entry and won the award. Latter, the book is published by the same Janapada
Sahitya Parishat itself. The book analyses the structure of the wonder tale or
the Fairy tale. It's exclusively taken the well-known Telugu wonder tale
Balanagamma Katha and analyse its structure. It is also shown a method to
analyse the other Telugu wonder tales. In the first part of this book, it
introduces the Vladimir Propp’s Morphology of Folktales in Telugu. In the
second part, it analyses the Balanagamma Katha in the light of Propp’s Method.
There is a traditional Indian method of analysing the plot of an epic or the
Kavya. It is mentioned in the Dasarupaka Sara of Dhananjaya. There are many
similarities between these two methods. The book made a comparative study of
these two methods also. The book is introduced in the teaching of folklore
papers in various Telugu Departments. It is sold out.
2. Runja Mrogutune Undi 1996 It is a Socio Cultural Study of
Runajs a Performing Caste of Andhra Pradesh, and a study of their Moukhika
Puranas, published by A.P.Janapada Sahitya Parishat. The book is an
Ethnographic study of a dependent performing caste range. It studies the
history and culture of the caste Runjas and the social
system or relations that are there between the Runjas and their patron caste Viswakarma. Runjas perform the Caste myth to Viswakarma’s and recite the gotras and
the ritual activities of Viswakarmas once in a year. In turn, they take
remunerations in various forms like grain, cloths, cattle and money. There
is a born bond between these castes as dependent performing caste and its
patron caste. They are called as kulam biddalu or
the sons of the castes. It is the first time a new social system
“dependent caste system” is identified and its structural analyses in this
book. How this system is functioning is analyzed in this book taking the
caste Runja as one example. The music and performance
method of Runja performance is also analyzed in this
book.
3. Teluguglo Kulapuranalu Asritavyastha 2000 (A Study of Caste Myths and Dependent Caste System of Telugus.
Published with the financial assistance of Telugu University and brought out by
the Prajashakti Book House. Hyderabad). This is my major research work done for
my Ph.D degree. My Ph.D was awarded in 1992 and I could publish it in the year
2000. It is an abridged and modified version of the thesis. This research, on
the Dependent Caste System and the Caste Myths opened a new area
of research in folklore and sociological research in A.P particular and in
other states of India in general. The research found a wide dependent caste
system functioning for the promotion of the social identity of various castes
of professions and Dalit castes. The book analyses the
structure of the dependent caste system as a social system like other
systems jajmani and wantadari. It defined and
analysed Kulupurana or the Caste myth as a unique kind of
genre, which is available in the oral and written mediums. It sets a
methodology for the research of caste myths and the dependent castes. Various new technical terms are introduced in this research. Now
it stands as a model books for the researchers, who wants to work on independent castes and caste myths. The critics
appreciated the book as pioneering work in this kind of research. The
book is out of print.

These two performances are textualised and published in
one volume. I have added a big editorial analysing the performance traditions

Nomadism-The saga of the Dommara by
Dravidian University. This work is an outcome of the project
sanctioned by Dravidian University. It is a study of the Nomadic Acrobatic folk
performers known as Dommara who are marginalised by both the society and the
academic interests. This community was labelled as criminal tribe under the
criminal Tribes Act of 1871. As the urban sprawl of cities increases and
village commons shrink, they find themselves being displaced constantly. The
Dommara are popularly known as Dom in North India and are considered as
untouchables. This work verifies many dimensions of the Dommara life such as
Historical, social, economical and religious. It also highlights the Basavi
system (dedication of girls to god-Forced Prostitution), that transformed into
the Flesh trade thus pushing a colourful community into mere oblivion. It also
studied the fate of Dommara profession of acrobatics in the wake of
Globalisation and Dommara women’s urge to cleanse the filth in their cultural
spaces.

of Telugu Girijana Malika. The Chenchu are one of the most primitive tribal groups of South
Asia practicing hunting and gathering economy.it is an endangered tribal
community concentrated in Nallamala forest region of Andhra Pradesh. The
Nallamalai forests are deciduous and deep. They cover mountain side, and are
full of treacherous pathways and dangerous ridges. The Chenchus are undaunted
by their natural surroundings and set out to gather food or hunt
animals. Here an attempt has been made to study their society, folklore
and economy and also their association with Lord Mallikarjuna, the presiding
deity of the near Srisailam temple, there by associating Chenchu religion with
the greater Indian traditions. The Chenchus are a conservative lot, which have
not made many changes in their lifestyle in an effort to keep pace with
modernity. They live in an enclosed space and lead a life of unbroken
continuity with the past.

5. A book
on Culture and Customary law in Sugali society published
by Dravidian university of (ISBN 9789381112540)
This book is a study of
Historical process of the evolution of culture and customary Law in Sugali
community .Before the advent of the modern market and transport system in
India, the Lambadas were known as major caravan traders and merchants. Their
caravan trade networks were highly organized and played a crucial role in the
growth of large scale long distance trade from the sixteenth century . Their
role was particularly important during famines, as food grain was supplied from
surplus to deficit areas through their caravan network. They served the
Sultanate, Mughal, French, British, and Nizam armies as independent
transporters. Their settlement known as Thanda was a multi-layered and
multi-purpose system that developed in the course of their settled lives.
Traditional courts in some areas, and consequently the processes of the
settlement of disputes of minor nature at the local level have gathered
momentum. In these circumstances the tribal customary laws need to be codified
and integrated with these local level processes. Hence the present study of the
tribal customary law has focused on the extraordinary resilience and pragmatism
in coping with the onslaught of outsiders and preserving their social institutions
and traditional law. They have laid down stringent regulatory norms and
conventions for the prudent use of most important of the resources viz., land,
maintenance of ethnic identity etc.
